Protest the Conservative Party Conference 28th September

Birmingham Clarion Singers (facebook) would like to invite choirs to join us at the protests against the Conservative Party Conference on 28th September in Birmingham. Details not yet finalised, but wanted to let people know now so that the date can be saved. We are aiming to use a similar song list to that which was used at the last demo in London.

    Hi,

For those able to attend this protest, details as follows:

Singers will meet at the Bull statue, which is outside the Bull Ring Shopping Centre, to one end of the High Street, Birmingham City Centre, at 11.45.
The march leaves from Victoria Square at midday, so should be passing us shortly after that, and we will sing as it passes. People can then join the end of the march if they choose to do so, which is expected to finish back in Victoria Square at around 12.45 (dependent on number of people there). This meeting point is very accessible from both New Street and Moor Street train stations.

There are protest events taking place on stage in Victoria Square from between 11.00 and 3.00, which your choir members might want to stay and watch. Just a heads up that if you are there for the start of the event, it may take longer than usual to walk down New Street to our meeting point, as the city centre will be being policed. Birmingham Clarion Singers are performing a slot on the stage at around 2.45.

As we dont have a full website to post details on, I will send an email round with song sheet attached (very similar to the last London massed sing), and with my contact details, in case anyone is struggling to find us.

    Hope to see people there.

Sorry there has been such a delay with giving out details of this event – we are still waiting for organisers to let us know the final route so are unable to confirm our meeting place yet. But the march starts in central Birmingham at midday, so we will meet at 11.45. We will be finalising music tomorrow, so I will post another update in the next couple of days. Hope to see some of you there. Anna (Birmingham Clarion Singers)
